Cherry Bonfire

Nestled here in the nape of your neck,

I gulp your escaping scent:

Bruised cranberry, crushed cherry, bonfire, sweat.

To stay here, to hold you only for now

And know that sunrise will erase this -

So, I’ll choke on the smoke

Of the taste of your skin on my tongue,

Then claim it as midnight remedy.
